Daniel is the author of many books, including the acclaimed novels The Cut, Losing Faith and This Is The Day and the bestselling Encyclopaedia Of Classic 80s Pop. He has also written the light-hearted parenting guide Dadlands and books on politics, nostalgia and collecting.

Dan wrote the Number One bestseller Doctor Who: Autonomy for BBC Books, featuring the tenth incarnation of the Doctor as played by David Tennant. Shadow Runners, his novel for younger readers, was first published in the UK by Chicken House and is now out in a new edition. It is also available in the USA (as Shadow Breakers), in Brazil and in Germany. He created the Emerald Greene books for young readers. And hi latest novel is Exiles, a young adult sci-fi thriller.

Dan’s work is published in several languages including French, German, Portuguese, Finnish, Turkish, Slovenian and Arabic. He lives on the edge of Sheffield, in the north of England. EXILES, an SF space thriller for the teen/new adult market will be relaunched in September 2022 by Spellbound Books.

Daniel has worked extensively in schools with pupils aged from 7 to 17, and also with organisations delivering extra-curricular writing experiences in a variety of locations. He has also taught on the M.A. in Creative Writing at Sheffield Hallam University and mentors, advises and edits writers of all ages through Cornerstones UK, Writing Ltd. and the Oxford Literary Consultancy.

He is a regular judge on the Sheffield Novel Slam for the Off The Shelf festival. Daniel lives with his family on the edge of Sheffield.
